2018 Michael Hall Barossa Valley Shiraz, Stone Well Jeroboam
The Triangle Block vineyard lies on the boundary of the Stone Well and Seppeltsfield sub-regions. It has a gentle northerly aspect and is coloured terracotta red by the distinct, iron-rich soils over clay found in parts of the western ridge and northern Barossa. Good winter rains and average spring temperatures led into a warm January. Temperatures were erratic throughout February and final ripening languished into March. Hand-picked on 5th March, all destemmed to open fermenter and fermented with indigenous yeast. Pressed to French oak barrels (10% new) for 18 months maturation. Unfined.
