2014 Michael Hall Barossa Valley Shiraz, Stone Well
The Triangle Block vineyard lies in Stone Well on the eastern edge of the Seppeltsfield sub-region. It has a gentle northerly aspect and is coloured terracotta red by the distinct, iron-rich soils over clay found in parts of the northern and western ridge Barossa.
For wine nerds like me: Fair winter rains and a warm first week of September promoted early budburst. A hot summer was broken by rain mid-February and cool temperatures thereafter. Picked in 4th March, all destemmed, fermented in closed puncheon and open fermenter. Matured for 21 months in French oak (22% new), unfiltered.
3770 bottles produced.
